6 ideas to get your first Bullet Journal started

posted on June 10 2017

What is a Bullet Journal?

An organisation system that is creative, personal and it works. iCal eat your heart out.

I'll be honest, the reason I suggested we write a post about bullet journalling is because I'm a teeny tiny bit obsessed with scrolling through Pinterest looking at how people have decorated the pages of their bullet journal.

For those of you that don't know, I'm about to change your life! The Bullet Journal is an organisation system. It can be your to-do list, sketchbook, notebook and diary all rolled into one. It teaches you to keep track of important things in your life.

Doesn't this sound like a lifesaver? Isn't it even better that you can control it by hand and your not using an app or website to help you keep things together? Isn't it time we say au revoir to iCal? Thats one of the things I loved most about this idea, you're unplugged and theres no distractions which means more time to get creative. Thats why some of these stunning pages I've come across have really had me captivated. Look how creative these people are! You can see and feel the love that went into each of these pages.

So now that you know what a bullet journal is, I'm going to show you a few of my favourite hopefully they will stir up ideas you can put into your own.

Calendar Day to Week to Month

This is my favourite layout for my own bullet journal. You can jot down meetings, deadlines and appointments as well as decorate it with cute stickers. When would you ever make your Google calendar look this good?

Scrapbooking

This is when your inherent need to keep all your cinema stubs, concert tickets and photos comes in handy. Display them on a page instead of that old shoe box under the bed.

Habit Tracking

This is the most common and productive way to use a bullet journal. Its a good way to document the good and bad habits you have and seeing where you can change things.

Daily Routines

Write down your morning/ night time routines and watch as you tick off the days you stick to it. Remember it only takes 21days to form a new habit.

Reach Goals

Having goals laid out so I can see them really helps put things into perspective of were I need to be to make these happen.

Motherhood BuJo

Bullet Journal like a mother (or father) and write down their first step, word, memories that you'll want to remember later to tell your little one's as they grow. Such a wonderful keepsake, I promise this will be cherished more than a Facebook share memory. Yes definitely infinitely more.

Remember each page isn't complete unless you jazz it up with illustrations, type and stickers
