Could this be the world's best toy? Yes. Definitely. Are we exaggerating? No, not really. Aside from being one of our favourite shapes, a rainbow encompasses all the colours on earth and celebrates plurality and openness. This wooden rainbow toy is handmade, each piece is slowly bent into an arch and they are hand dipped in non toxic paint. The marvellous thing is how much you can do with this toy.
At first it's seemingly simple. A. Rainbow. But the shape of the rainbow lends itself to all kinds of play. Try out amazing balancing games, turn it into a marble run, create an obstacle course, a human cocoon, dollhouse, build tunnels, rock boats... all the while sensing the lovely feeling of wood and the amazing hue of colours. So we understand the love. In fact, it is so idolised that it has a dedicated chat room on Mumsnet called, "To think Grimm's Rainbow is the wankiest toy". With more than 200 messages there are some very funny comments and lots of supporters defending it's corner on there too.
We receive hundreds of calls and emails asking us for Rainbows every week. Turns out this wooden rainbow by Grimm's is many things to many people. Aside from being a beautifully made puzzle, out of a single piece of sustainable wood... it is also produced in small runs by skilled special need workers in Bosnia and Germany who are paid a fair wage. Grimm's don't compromise on quality so that they can increase production and we admire them for that.
