Introducing Geneva from Cosmic Americana

In photo above is Little Citizens' Toy: Sarah's Silk Skytail, an amazing silk comet to play catch with, throw it up into the air and watch it fly through the sky.

Hi there! My name is Geneva and I live in Joshua Tree, California with my husband Andy and our almost two year daughter, Prairie. (Shown here in the photo) We moved out to the desert right after Prairie was born in search of a slower, more simple way of life. Making ethical and conscious choices is  very important to us, and we try to extend that philosophy to our purchases too. We try to keep clothing and toys minimal for Prairie and gravitate towards simple, beautifully made toys for her.

Now that she’s a toddler she has really started expressing her own opinions, and one thing she feels strongly about is that she wants some more toys! We spend a lot of time at home and I want her to feel happy in her space, so I was happy to oblige her request, but only if we could find toys that meet both her standards of fun, and my standards of quality.

I was happy to find many of the brands I’ve grown to love and also discover some new ones at Little Citizen’s Boutique and below I will share my list of best toys for a two year old:

Puzzles by Grimm’s:

These beautiful rainbow stackers come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and with a little imagination can be arranged into all kinds of fun combinations. I have my eye on this monochromatic one, this is a piece that I will happily display on my living room shelf, instead of hiding away in a basket in her room!

Prairie loves taking care of her babies and playing with dollies and I’ve noticed a lot of her friends are also in that phase.

Here’s an adorable snuggly baby doll:

And a the sweetest little girl dolly:

Music and Art Toys:

Prairie has always enjoyed musical toys and is getting a lot more able to do little arts and crafts projects so I’m always on the hunt for these sorts of toys.

This set is recommended for 8 years and up, but I love coloring painting with my toddler (she’s always closely supervised of course), and think that it would be lovely to have everything contained in this nice little case:

A beautiful & functional little piano, how fun!

What toddler doesn’t love them?! And this Southwestern set is perfect for our desert livin’ fam:

I hope you’ve enjoyed shopping along with my recommendations today! So far having an almost two year old has been a really fun and magical time of learning and growth for our family and I’m excited to see what the future holds!
